In October 2018 we had the opportunity to train three more staff members at PowerCorpsPHL to teach Roots of Success in their program. This will allow PowerCorpsPHL to continue offering Roots of Success as part of the six-month green job-training program they offer to young adults ages 18-26 in Philadelphia.

PowerCorpsPHL engages disconnected young adults and returning citizens to enter and succeed in green career pathways by using service as the strategy to provide career-connected education and paid, work experiences. Working closely with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, the Philadelphia Water Department, and partners in the public and private sector, PowerCorpsPHL builds opportunities for young people to create promising futures by tackling pressing environmental challenges and developing the skills required to secure meaningful work. PowerCorpsPHL simultaneously enriches the lives of its Corps members, provides the city of Philadelphia with a diverse, talented workforce, and enhances the city’s green space. Through their AmeriCorps service, Corps members are helping to build a sustainable city, making every Philadelphia neighborhood healthier, safer, and stronger.
