RoS Apprenticeship

The RoS Apprenticeship is the first and only federally recognized Department of Labor “Career Technical Educator – Environmental Literacy Instructor” Registered Apprenticeship Program. CTE is a program of study that integrates core academic knowledge with technical and occupational knowledge to provide students with a pathway to postsecondary education and careers. The Apprenticeship is offered to Roots of Success Instructors, who complete the Apprenticeship after teaching the course five times. The program includes supplemental materials which can be accessed through the RoS Community of Practice once Apprentices are licensed and certified as Roots of Success Instructors.

RoS Pre-Apprenticeship

The RoS pre-apprenticeship program is offered to Roots of Success students and is articulated to the Roots of Success Pre-Apprenticeship Standards. Students receive an “Environmental Specialist” certificate upon completion of the 10-module Roots of Success course. Pre-apprenticeship programs build the basic literacy, math, and work-readiness skills today’s employers require, and help workers, including youth and job seekers with beginner skill levels, begin a pathway to a career. The pre-apprenticeship is articulated to the Environmental Specialist apprenticeship, but the program also prepares pre-apprentices to enter and succeed in Registered Apprenticeships, advanced studies, and/or 100+ jobs and career pathways in the waste, water, transportation, energy, building, food, agricultural, and open space sectors.

What is a Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP)?

A Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) is a proven model of apprenticeship that has been validated by the U.S. Department of Labor or a State Apprenticeship Agency.
